Lolita Blog Carnival: Music inspired coordinations

I'm inspired by many things and one of them happens to be music. For a long time I've been thinking of putting together some outfits which have been inspired by, my absolutely most favorite band, Rammstein. Rammstein has been a big part of my life for a long time. I find their songs empowering, touching and perfectly inspiring. Even though their music is brilliant, the first thing I fell in love with Rammstein was Till Lindemanns lyrics. Sometimes I just want to read the lyrics, because they are like poetry.  There can be many ways of interpret them. The perfect combination of complex composing and lyrics really speaks to me personally. So here are couple of outfits, inspired of few of my favorite songs by Rammstein.

JSK: Metamorphose Temps de Fille
Blouse: Victorian Maiden
Shoes: Kobi Levi
Neclace: etsy
Ring: etsy
Headband: etsy

This particular song is actually about friendship (mainly about the friendship between the band members), but since sharks are part of the song, I really wanted to take the easy way out and make an outfit with a shark-theme. Sharks are awesome so what the hell. I also found those cool shark shoes, which are unfortunately reallyreallyreally expensive designer shoes by Kobi Levi.

Lyrics with translation in English and Finnish

JSK: Lusty'n Wonderland
Headdress: etsy
Necklace: etsy
Earrings: Storenvy
Shoes: Sole Society

Rosenrot (Rose-red, ruusunpunainen) tells a story about a girl, who's absolutely spoiled. She tells to a boy, who's in love with her, to get her a rose from the top of a mountain. The boy climbs the mountain, trying his best to get that rose for the girl she loves, but he loses his grip and falls. The selfishness and vanity of the girl gets the boy killed. I think this can be a metaphor for a relationship, where one is willing to do everything for the other, but still you can't get the love, respect or affection from the one you love. An you'll get hurt. You'll fall. That's sad.

Lyrics with translation in English and Finnish

My last song is Mein Herz Brennt (My heart is burning). I seriously tried for hours to put together an outfit, which would give the credit for the song. I have to admit that I failed to do that. No matter how much I thought about it and tried to find fitting headpieces and dresses, nothing was good enough. Mein Herz Brennt is much too important song for me, so I could just do a half assed outfit based on it.  So I'm just going put the music video in here. It's hauntingly beautiful and creepy. I hope you'll watch it (remember to put it in HD).

English and Finnish lyrics.

So that's all folks! I hope you liked this post. Please comment and tell me your inspirational songs.
I also made a"happyhappycute"-themed lolita playlist to 8track, so check that out too! Have a great weekend everybody!

Lolita Post Carnival: Book inspired coordinations

This week's Lolita Blog Carnival subject is book inspired coordinations. I had about million outfit ideas for this post. I was thinking about Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and other really popular books, but I figured that everybody would do the same so I tried to think a bit outside of the box.
So for this time my book inspired coordinations are completely from a Finnish book!

Kalevala

Kalevala is the national epic of Finland. It was compiled by Elias Lönnrot, from Finnish and Karelian folklore and mythology, in the 19th century. The Kalevala begins with the traditional Finnish creation myth, leading into stories of the creation of the earth, plants, creatures and the sky. The Kalevala is telling a story of the people of Kalevala and Pohjola (The north). The story is filled with quarrels, revenge, love and lust.

Aino

JSK & Blouse: Alice and the Pirates
Socks:  Baby the Stars Shine Bright
Headdress: Innocent World
Shoes: Modcloth
Necklace and earrings: Kalevala jewelry

Aino was a beautiful sister of Joukahainen. When Joukahainen lost a singing contest to Väinämöinen, who's a great shaman and influential man, he promised Aino's hand in marriage to Väinämöinen. Aino's mother was pleased that Aino would be able to marry such an great man. Aino however despised the idea of marrying an old man by force, so she ended up drowning herself.

The Daughters of the North

OP: Alice and the Pirates
Shoes: Minna Parikka
Ring, necklace and earrings: Kalevala jewelry

The daughters of the North (or maidens of the North) were high born beauties, who were highly desirable among men. They were also very hard to get as a wife, since they often ordered the suitors to accomplish difficult tasks, such as killing monsters and in one case to plow a field filled with vipers and rocks. They were almost like deities, since they had magical powers and they lived in the sky. It is told that the daughters of the North were so pale that you could almost see through their clothes, skin and bones.

Sampo
OP: Victorian Maiden
Jewelry: Kalevala jewelry
Tights: Galstern
Headdress: Boring Sidney
Shoes: Dolce & Gabbana

Sampo is a magical machine, which smith Ilmarinen made for the Mistress of the North so he could marry one of her daughters. In Kalevala Sampo is one kind of a mill, which makes salt, flour and gold out of thin air. The holder of Sampo will be obviously the richest person in the world. Later on Ilmarinen and Väinämöinen hear that the people in the North are rolling in riches so they decide to rob it back. They go to the North and Väinämöinen tries to bargain with the Mistress of the North, so they both could use Sampo. The Mistress doesn't accept this, so Väinämöinen starts to play his kantele (finnish "harp") and all of the people of the North fall asleep. Meanwhile they're sleeping Väinämöinen, Lemminkäinen and Ilmarinen rob the Sampo. When the Mistress of the North wakes up she gets furious and sends a mighty beast, Iku Turso, after the robbers. Väinämöinen however manages to crabs Iku Turso from the ear and commands him to go back to the sea. And so the robbers return to Kalevala with Sampo.

So this is it! Let me know if you liked this post and what book inspires you. I think that this was really fun to make, because I was able to mix my own culture to a thread. I think I'll do Finland related lolita later on too.

First Lolita Blog Carnival post: Your favorite print theme in lolita

A couple weeks ago, I decided to join The Lolita Blog Carnival, which is basically a bunch of people, who decide a topic, which we're talking about in our blogs. It seemed like a fun idea, and I wanted to perk up my blog a bit, so I decided to join the group (`・ω・´)”! I think I'm also getting a bit sick, so I haven't had any energy or time to dress up. I'm hoping to take some autumn (and especially Halloween ⊙ω⊙) themed pictures in some time soon. I wish that there's still some beautifully colored leaves in trees when I'm able to take the pictures.

Anyways let's get back to the topic, which is: your favorite print theme in lolita! Actually there's quite many themes I really love, but this is definately the number one theme I love.

I absolutely love everything related to magic and occultism. Maybe it's because I'm a pagan myself. I kind of like to represent the things I believe in with my clothing, jewelry and such and that's why I really like this theme. Halloween or Samhain is also one of my favorite holidays. Not only it's not the most important Sabbath of the year, it's also the time for everything creepy and scary. And don't I just love creepy and scary things. Whether the print is about witches, vampires or ghosts they're instantly on my must have list! Usually the colors of the brand's occult-themed prints are also really nice. Lots of dark and warm colors. Here are few of my favorite prints. Apparently Alice and the Pirates is kind of specified of releasing these kind of prints. That's one of the many reasons why I love this particular brand.

The first dress in the main title is Tarot card print, from Alice and the Pirates. Tarot reading is a very important for me. It's part of practicing my religion and it's also a good way of figurinng out things, that are bothering me and how to evolve my thinkind and the way I act.Last year I was able to get my hands to this dress. There are cards from the major arcana in the print, which are beautifully illustrated. This particular dress is very precious for me.

The Castle of Nightmare print from Alice and the Pirates, is an interesting print, with a lot of details. It's filled with bats, haunting pictures of empty dinner tables and empty rooms. You can almost imagine that there could be a faint shadow of a ghost lurking in the background. I also like the way the print is arranged in the dress. It's like you're part of the nightmare castle and these pictures are hanged on to you. I hope I'll get this piece of art to my closet someday.

One of the latest prints from Alice and the Pirates (AatP again, oh well (;-_-)/) is Merry Making in the Ghost Town! This is also totally in the head of my dream dress-list at the moment. I would like to have this dress in navy, because in my opinion the color is more like purple, which is my favorite color. As the title presents, the main theme of the print is about a ghostly town. The houses of the town look like my dream homes! In my opinion the print looks more of bunch  of mansions, than a town. Nevertheless, I think it's a really beautiful print with lovely color combinations.

So that's about it. Let me know how did I do with my first Lolita Blog Carnival-post and what's your favorite theme in lolita in the comments! Have a nice weekend everybody!

Current Obsession: Old Bollywood movies

There's something really interesting about old Bollywood movies. They manage to be really entertaining and still filled with great music. They're also a great way to lift your spirit when you're feeling down. Here's a couple of songs that have recently popped in to my life.

Candy candy

For some miraculous reason at the moment this video inspires me like crazy. This is all I want from life right now: that it's like fluffy, pink and sweet candy.
